CLASSROOMS

Our classrooms are each located in a safe and secure setting. We have warm and positive interactions between our staff and children! One core aspect of our mission is to provide a safe environment that is conducive to growth and learning. Each staff member goes through a rigorous background check before being placed in the classroom.

We offer small class sizes and maintain a high staff-to-child ratio. Each room is accommodated to fit the needs of each age group.

ENVIRONMENT

We place a high value on emergent literacy skills, motor development, social-emotional development, and developing curiosity in a Christian environment. At JKV, children are utilizing the environment around them with a minimum amount of technology.

TEACHERS

Our teachers have a passion for teaching children, for early childhood development, and understand the need for recognizing the diversity represented in each child. All teachers at JKV have been selected following an application and interview process with the Director of Journey Kids Village. Rigorous background and reference checks are completed for all staff members. Additionally, all teachers and staff must be over the age of 18 to be employed at JKV and are expected to uphold the Arkansas Requirements for Child Care Centers.

PARENT-TEACHER COMMUNICATION

One way we celebrate each child’s successes and progress are through communicating with each parent through Brightwheel, a software designed around building effective bridges of communication between teachers and parents. JKV maintains a high standard for parent-teacher communication with the expectation of parents receiving real-time daily reports of their child’s learning progress, meals, naps, etc. Additionally, any and all accidents/incidents will be reported to the parents should they occur.

LEARNING CENTERS

Through the use of Learning Centers, children have easy access to defined areas with stimulating materials and engage in independent and self-directed learning activities which promote role-playing, emergent literacy, math skills, fine motor, sensory exploration, directionality, and social/emotional development.

OUTDOOR/INDOOR PLAY

We have both an outdoor and an indoor play area which is developmentally appropriate for each age group. Children play together with the same age level and gross motor skills are practiced as they exercise for at least 30 minutes each day.

MUSIC

We offer weekly music classes to all of our age groups. We use songs, rhythmic expression, and Christian-based music from toddler to pre-k ages.
